Let’s not let this get lost with all the turmoil with WordPress.

Wordpress.com is no better than the WP Engine, in my opinion. They both bastardize the open source project in different ways.

They both customize how the end user uses the platform. And wordpress.com confuses people way more than WPE does.

So in conclusion, Matt Mullenweg is a hypocrite.

Also it’s clear that investors are breathing down Matt’s neck here. Blackrock backs Automattic. Silver Lake backs WPE.
